Are you getting the most out of your WisRWA membership? Here is a list of the current benefits WisRWA provides for members.
Monthly Area Meetings
We currently have two active areas (Wausau and Greater Green Bay) and are working to find an area contact for the Milwaukee group. Members are invited to attend any (or even all!) area meetings, not just the meetings of the area they’re closest to. Meetings are currently being held via Zoom. Check out the calendar for meeting topics and then reach out to the area contacts via the contacts page on our website to get the meeting info.
Monthly Hangout/Virtual Presentation
We are currently offering a virtual meeting each month, which we plan to continue to do even as in-person meetings resume. Some months are hangouts, where members can get together and work through any issues with their WIPs, ask questions, get inspiration and encouragement, etc. Some months are presentations (we recently featured Stacey Donovan from Hallmark Publishing). All of these meetings are held via Zoom and details are emailed to our members via the email they use on the WisRWA Loop (the email they provided RWA for contact purposes). We also share them on the Facebook chat group and WisRWA Loop.
Two Promo Days/Month
On New Release Tuesday (the last Tuesday of the month), we share a post on our blog and social media sites with all the new releases our members have had that month. On Promo Thursday (the second Thursday of the month), we share on our blog and social media information about where our members will be in the upcoming month. Be it a blog tour, a book signing, or speaking at a workshop, this is an opportunity to let people know where our members will be online or in person. Information for both of these promo opportunities should be sent to the VP of Communication. Check the newsletter each month for the deadlines to get your info in (the dates are also posted in our Facebook chat group and the WisRWA Loop).
Facebook Chat Group/WisRWA Loop
Use the Facebook Chat Group and WisRWA Loop to chat with other WisRWA members. Share contests and workshops, get advice, share tips, etc. (The Loop can also be accessed by logging into the RWA website and clicking Forums. You’ll be redirected and then you can select the Communities drop down and pick My Communities.)
Every other week we share a new blog post from a WisRWA member. Some posts are inspiring stories about author journeys, and some are educational – authors sharing tips they’ve learned on the subjects of craft, marketing, etc.
We send out a newsletter the first Wednesday of each month with up to date info on WisRWA and RWA, area meetings, etc. As a member, you are automatically signed up for this newsletter. (Let us know if your email address changes and the VP of Communication will get that updated for you.)
Not just for members (anyone can follow our social media accounts), but WisRWA has public Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram pages. (The Facebook page is different from the Facebook chat group since it’s for the public.) We regularly post writing tips and motivation quotes, as well as sharing member news for the world to see.
Some of our previous offerings (contests and conferences/workshops) have been tabled for the time being as we look for new volunteers to spearhead them and as we review what changes need to be made to them in our ever changing world.
