Join Green Bay members for a FREE Saturday workshop with Colleen Belongea. Colleen is a former LT. for the Green Bay Police Department, she is a Criminal Justice Instructor for NWTC, as well as a State of Wisconsin DOJ Instructor certified to teach in the LE Academy. Colleen will present the following workshops: 1. Women and Law Enforcement…why they get into LE, why they leave, promotions, etc. How to survive in the field, how to build a career in the field, what are quick career killers for women; 2. Defense and Arrest Tactics; and 3. Law enforcement responses & a LE officer’s perspective on the changes in society and challenges for officers. Detailed schedule forthcoming.

Polish and Submit Workshop with Cheryl Yeko: Bring your query letter drafts, summaries, author bios, elevator speeches, pitches - whatever you would like to polish. We'll take a look at the whole process of submission and how to keep track of what you send out, the responses, and how to accept a rejection and move on.

Planning Meeting for 2018 Area Programs and First Page Feedback We will be laying out strategy for our 2018 Programming Calendar for the first hour. Bring your ideas and be prepared to brainstorm about what would make for valuable seminars/presentations/talks/workshops. The second half of the meeting will be First Page Feedback. Bring the first page (or first 300 words) of your work-in-progress to read to the group. Members will offer comments about two things that they liked or worked well and one thing that might need improvement. In the past, this has provided our members with a nice boost to their confidence!

Sandy Goldsworthy will be at the 2017 Ozarks Indie Book Fest in Springfield, MO from October 19-22. Bringing authors, bloggers, and readers together, the Ozarks Indie Book Fest has features over exhibitors and panels for all.
Proceeds from the event benefit Companions for Heroes and Loving Paws Rescue. For more information, visit their  website.

Sara Dahmen will be at the Heartland Fall Forum in Illinois with her publisher, SillanPaceBrown Group, and speaking at the Moveable Feast on October 12 at noon, and doing a signing her book Widow and showing off her cookware on October 13 all day. She will also be at Beer & Books at the Black Kettle Eatery & Pub in Columbus, WI on November 2 at 7 PM.  Beer & Books is a reading/signing/book event.

Maxine Douglas will be signing her books at the Fall Author Festival being held at the Chickasha Public Library on October 27th, from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm.

Melonie Johnson will be sharing who her Book Boyfriend is in the October edition of the HEA USA Today column, on 10/27.

Sandy Goldsworthy will be at 2017 Penned Con in St. Louis, MO September 29-30. Penned Con is a conference where authors and readers are brought together for the chance to mingle, have fun, and raise money for Autism. Sara Dahmen will be presenting at RWA Nationals in Orlando, Florida on Friday, July 28th from 2:00-3:00 PM during the 20/20 Expert Hour: Historicals. She will be discussing the Historical Kitchen: A meaty look at the roles and power of women in the kitchen: how their status and the era affected the foods they prepared and impacted their world.

Maxine Douglas will be at A Weekend with the Authors in Nashville, TN July 13-16.

Promotion Thursday – May Edition

It’s Promotion Thursday for May. Check out where you can find our WisRWA authors this month.

Tina Susedik is starting a new venture. She will be hosting her own radio show on Authors on the Air starting in June. Her show, “The Book Garden” will feature authors in both fiction and non-fiction. Authors on the Air Global Radio Network has sixteen shows running both live and as podcasts. Tina will be hosting her show twice a month, once as a live broadcast and once as a podcast. She will be looking for compelling, published authors to talk with her on “The Book Garden.” More information as to her start date will be forthcoming.

Stacey Joy Netzel will be participating in the launch party for her new multi-author Beach Brides Series. The launch party runs from 12n-6p EST/11a-5p CST, and Stacey will be co-hosting the hour of 3-4p EST/2-3p CST. Join in for fun, games, and a bunch of prizes!
